Check out our list of just a few fun activities and events taking place around the Charlotte area during the month of April.

 

Blue’s Cuisine from Africa Class

April 1, 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Blue Restaurant & Bar in uptown will hold a cooking class with Chef Gene Briggs on Saturday, April 1. Guests will be able to create traditional North African dishes like shakshouka, kefta and Moroccan malabi.

 

Front Porch Sunday

April 2, 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Every month, vendors around Charlotte get together on the first Sunday of every month, holding day long events to highlight different beer and food from around the Queen City. The day partners with local businesses like Sycamore Brewing, NC Yoga Bar, live music, more than 40 vendors and multiple food trucks. This monthly event is free and open to the public.

 

Historic Rosedale’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt

April 8, 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

See the sights of the beautiful Historic Rosedale plantation and southern gardens as children search for Easter eggs left by the Easter bunny. With a total of three egg hunts and different seasonal events throughout the day, kids will be on an all-day hunt for Easter eggs filled with fun treats and educational facts about the plantation. Enjoy the lush gardens while celebrating the Easter season.

 

Science on the Rocks: Steampunk Soiree

April 21, 5 until 9 p.m.

The Discovery Place is hosting their monthly Science on the Rocks event on the third Friday of April. This month’s event theme is Steampunk Soiree. This adults-only night at the Discovery Place will honor Steampunk-style artistry, science fiction and technology. Steampunk, according to the museum’s website, is a sub-genre of science fiction that combines art and fashion from the Victorian era, the American Wild West and a post-apocalyptic future. Costumes are highly encouraged and guests are able to win a prize in the costume contest at the end of the night.

 

Civil War Symposium

April 29, 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Join the Charlotte Metrolina Civil War Roundtable and Charlotte Museum of History for their Third Annual Civil War Symposium, one of the most exciting events held at the museum. This year’s event will feature experts who will examine four key battles of the Civil War. The battles they’ll be discussing will include Antietam, Vicksburg, Shiloh and Chickamauga.
